5 Ways to Get Help with Your ADHD

Sometimes we all can use a helping hand. You need support, or just someone who will listen, or maybe some advice from someone who’s been there.

That’s especially true when you have Attention Deficit Disorder.

Living with ADHD is hard. It’s even harder if you’re the only one in the family who has it, because no one understands.

When you consider all the people you come into contact with or interact with on a daily basis, that’s a lot of people. A lot of people who may have the wrong impression about you.

Sometimes you need some help. So here are five ways that you can do that.

1. If you’re wondering if you have ADHD, dealing with co-morbidities like anxiety or depression, or just really feel like you’re drowning, seek professional help. Sometimes your family doctor can help, other times you may need a therapist or psychologist. And hey, if you feel as though your life would be so much better if you could just get rid of the stuff and organize the rest, then consider a personal organizer as your professional help.

2. Don’t overlook good friends, your sister if you’re lucky enough to have one, or someone at your place of worship. I bet they would all make great listeners.

3. Find a coach, preferably one that specializes in ADHD. (More on that from me later.)

4. Look for support groups (check with local churches and health care centers). Check out ADDA or CHADD to see if they have a local group near you.

5. Make sure to make time for yourself every day. Start a journal, learn to meditate. Find a way to get quiet each day and do some soul searching. Ask for help and guidance. Take better care of yourself.
