Just Wondering

Jump to:

This isn’t so much a post as a question – when you want information – you know, something bigger than a blog post – how do you like to get it?

Do you like a written report, an audio file, or both? What about video?

I ask mostly because I want to know if I’m giving you the best that I can in the most effective way.

I started wondering about this last week because I signed up for several teleconferences, all of which came with an audio replay.

The teleconference sounded like a good idea because they were being presented by people I respect and want to learn from. (None of it was about ADHD – if so, I would have shared.)

The thing is, I didn’t make it through a single call. My ADHD would kick in – especially if the host was doing one of those long winded introductions – and I’d end up hanging up. I figured I still had the audio replay once the call was over.

The thing is, I couldn’t make it through any of those either. The one time I did was because I was stuck waiting for someone with nothing else to do.

I’d like to hear your thoughts about this, because I am thinking of getting out of my comfort zone and doing teleconferences or audios and it would be a waste if you’re like me and can’t sit through them.

  1. I would much prefer audio information, but then my learning styles have been tested as:

    1. Tactile/Kinesthetic (primary)
    2. Auditory (strong)
    3. Visual (weak)

So when I’m motivated and interested and focused, visual information is a crap shoot at best. 🙂

ADHD aside, I think that information needs to be presented in multiple modes because no two learners are exactly alike.
