5 Reminders for You

Jump to:

Please excuse my absence lately. I have missed “talking” with you, but my time has and is being spent at the hospital with my dad. I’ll do my best to keep up things here.

We’ve talked about stress before, and sometimes even when we try our hardest, we still end up on that one way trip to Stressville. Right now I feel like I’m moving there.

Anyway, here are 5 reminders for you that will hopefully help you out:

  1. Take your medication every day at the same time.
  2. Get enough sleep.
  3. Find some quiet time for you each day, even if it’s just a few minutes.
  4. Reach out for help and hugs.
  5. Learn to make the best of a bad situation.

About those bad situations – today I had an appointment with a cardiac care nurse in reference to my dad’s health. The 3 of us were supposed to meet at 11:00 am.

I arrived at the hospital on time, only to find no one in my dad’s room. Not even dad. I knew he had testing scheduled, so I didn’t think too much of it.

I spent over 2 hours sitting there, waiting for someone to show up.

I was stressed because of my dad, but also because Christmas is coming and I don’t have any shopping done because I don’t have the time.

At some point I decided to make the best of a bad situation – after all I had been given the gift of over 2 hours of quiet time to myself – so I got on my phone and my Amazon app and did my shopping. I got about 75% of it done.

Sometimes when you’re in a “bad” situation, it’s for a reason. It might be a gift in disguise. Try thinking of it that way the next time things don’t go as expected.
