How a Mani Pedi Can Help Your ADHD

One of the things that I’m always stressing to you is the importance of taking good care of yourself.

And I know you mean to, but do you?

Do you take as much care of yourself as you do your family and friends?

Taking good care of yourself is important because it keeps you healthy, makes you feel better – including your self esteem, and helps you manage your ADHD symptoms more effectively.

Eating good, healthy food – enough but not too much – helps your body and your brain function more effectively. It helps you resist germs and the sickness that they can cause.

Getting a good night’s sleep is important for your body and brain too. You know what you’re like when you haven’t had enough sleep. Your brain gets fuzzy and you make mistakes.

But what about things like a manicure, a cute outfit or pair of shoes, or a great haircut? How do those things help your ADHD?

They don’t, right?

Wrong.

All of those things can contribute to how you feel. Getting a manicure or pedicure for some women makes them feel pampered and special. They know their nails look good and that feeling extends to the rest of them. The same is true for a cute outfit or a great haircut or whatever it is that makes you feel special.

Giving yourself some pampering and attention makes you feel better about yourself and that raises your self esteem. It’s also a subtle message to your subconscious mind (and those around you) that you value yourself and that you deserve nice things.

When your self esteem is up, your ADHD symptoms may not be any different, but the way you handle and react to them will. You will be more confident and better able to manage.

Imagine you – looking good, feeling good, and not getting thrown by your ADD symptoms. Imagine you in charge.

Puts a whole new spin on retail therapy, doesn’t it?
