Money and ADHD

There is a great article on Automatic Moms today. It’s about automating tasks to save you time, money, and sanity.

The one I especially like is about paying bills, because that seems to be a huge area of concern for people with Attention Deficit Disorder. Often, it’s not even because we don’t have the money – it’s more a matter of remembering when the bill is due and then remembering to write the check and mail it.

How many times have you carried a bill around in your purse and forgotten to mail it? Even if it’s in an envelope stamped and ready to go?

Automatic bill paying makes life so much easier.

If your problem is in budgeting the money rather than actually paying the bills, I have to tell you about The B Word. It is the first program that I’ve used that makes sense to me.

You know how, depending on when paydays fall, and bills are due, there’s always a different amount you need each week to cover things? And how you can get even more confused if you try to figure out how much more you need than what’s in your account on any given day?

The B Word simplifies that. Once you’ve put in your numbers, you’re pretty much done for the year. Then you go back to the automation idea and put everything on automatic. Your bills get paid on time, you don’t have to worry about it, and you might even save some money. You will definitely save your sanity.

Now if the problem is too much month and not enough money, I’m not sure I can help you. At least not today.
