Taking a Break

Jump to:

I often spend hours sitting at my desk working on the computer. Some days I really get into what I’m doing and I don’t even realize how much time has passed. Other days aren’t so productive.

No matter what kind of work you do, you probably have days like mine. Some good, some not so much.

Regardless of how you spend your days, you should make a point to take a break now and then. Our brains and our bodies can use it.

If you spend a large part of your day at a desk or maybe driving in a car, you should try and get up (or out) once or twice an hour. Do some stretches or just walk around a bit.

If your brain is feeling sluggish, do some brisk exercise. Just a few minutes is enough to get the blood flowing again and put you back on track.

If what you do requires a great deal of concentration, take a few minutes once or twice an hour to veg out a little. Close your eyes and meditate for a few minutes, look out the window, or just stand up and stretch.

Everybody’s brain and body needs a break now and then; ADD brains need them more. Make sure to feed your brain what it needs.
