The Wheel of Life

Jump to:

Do you know what the Wheel of Life is?

No, not The Circle of Life, the Wheel of Life.

The Wheel of Life is a tool that lets you see how balanced your life is.

At it’s most basic form, it’s simply a circle (or wheel) that you draw on a piece of paper. Then you divide the circle into parts, like cutting a pie, that represent different areas of your life.

Typical ones might include family, friends, love and romance, career, spirituality, health and finances. You can choose which ones to evaluate in terms of your own life.

Then for each section of the pie, you draw a line representing your level of satisfaction with that part of your life. The closer your line is to the center of the circle, the less satisfied you are with that area of your life.

The goal, of course, is to get all of the areas of your life up to the very outer edge of the wheel. That way, your wheel is perfectly round and runs smoothly in the same way that your life would run smoothly if all of the areas of it were optimal.

I have found a cool online tool that lets you do this exercise interactively. You can find it at Mind Tools, along with a lot of tips on things like time management and problem solving skills.

The site is meant more for career development, but offers some great ideas for ADD Moms like you and me.

Oh, and definitely check out the stress management section. I bet you need it.
