Ziplist

Whenever I can find something new that makes my life easier, I am all about it. And when I can share that with all of you, I do.

Over the weekend, I found Ziplist. Ziplist is designed to make your grocery shopping easier and less stressful. Here’s how they describe their service:

We know how busy you are and ZipList is all about getting you and in and out the grocery store quickly, while saving you time, money and your sanity.

Best of all, it’s free!

To explain how it works, let me tell you about how I used it.

Knowing that groceries take a big chunk out of our budget, I try to make a meal plan for the week and write out a list with all the ingredients I need. Smart shoppers check the sale papers first, but frankly, that’s beyond my skill level.

So I went online looking for new meal ideas, cause we get bored with the same old stuff all the time. Ziplist has a huge recipe database that lets you search for recipes.

They also have this cool button that you add to your toolbar; whenever you are online and find a recipe to try, just click the button and Ziplist will add it to your recipe box. After it’s added to your box, you can click one button to add the ingredients to your list.

Now comes the coolest part: once you have your list of ingredients, you can email it or text it to anyone you want. You set up that information under account details.

So if your spouse is at the store or running errands, you can make a list online and send it to them. Probably best used for a small list, I would think. 🙂

I texted my list to my cell phone, which made it really easy to get just what I needed.

I discovered later that they have a companion app for iPhone from Martha Stewart. Martha’s Everyday Food magazine has been put in app form. You get a daily recipe plus access to the entire database on your device. And once you choose a recipe, it automatically syncs with Ziplist.

I have to say I have loved this! I assigned a meal to each day and put it on the calendar. I’ve been excited to see what was for dinner each night, and I love feeling so organized!

Check out Ziplist for yourself. Maybe it can simplify your life too.
