Do you workout?

Do you go to a gym, exercise in your neighborhood, or just workout at home?

You do get some form of exercise, right?

Simplify Your Workout

Exercise is good for your body and your health, but it’s also good for your brain. Studies have shown that exercise can help you stay focused and alert for as long as 24 hours afterwards.

Isn’t that a good enough excuse to get moving?

OK, so let’s say that maybe you don’t really have an exercise plan.

That’s OK. You can take the ideas in this post and use them in lots of other areas of your life.

When I go to the gym, it’s always an ordeal for me:

  • Make sure I have clean clothes to work out in.
  • Do something with my hair.
  • Find my keys and my gym pass.
  • Find my shoes.
  • Grab my towel.
  • Find my phone and don’t forget my earbuds.

My husband just picks up his gym bag and goes.

Duh.

I have a bag that I use to carry my stuff once I’m at the gym. Why isn’t it always packed and ready to go?

So here’s tip #1 about simplifying your workout: get a bag and keep it packed with what you need.

Yes, I realize that I don’t/can’t keep my keys and phone in the bag, but I can keep a pair of earbuds and my gym pass in there. And guess what? Whenever I wash my towel, it goes back in the bag.

Tip #2 to simplify your workout: make it a part of your schedule. So if it’s Monday, you’re going to the gym. It helps keep you consistent because eventually it will become a habit.

And until it does, use an app to remind you.

Keeping track of your workouts is tip #3. It will help you measure your progress and motivate you. Your gym may have an app (mine does), or you can use one of the many ones out there. I like Map My Fitness, but there are a lot out there.

Finally, once you get done working out, you’ll want to shower and put on some fresh clothes.

In order to make sure that you a) have clean clothes to wear and b) have clothes to workout in, do your laundry every other day.

I know what you’re thinking: you hate laundry and doing it more often is worse, not better.

But you’re wrong.

Doing 2 days worth of laundry is easy. It’s a light load that dries quickly and – here’s the best part – it’s easy to put away.

We’ll call that tip #4. 😉
