ADHD Friendly Snacks

Jump to:

What? You never thought of food as being ADHD friendly (or not)?

Really?

Let’s see…. choose a snack: a bag of chips and a cola or celery sticks with hummus and bottled water.

Which do you think would be better for your brain?

All brains need good food and healthy lifestyles in order to function at their best. ADHD brains, being ADHD after all, are a little pickier.

Lean proteins, complex carbs, colorful fruits and veggies, and lots of water fit the bill.

Specifically, here are some suggestions:

Snack bars

Look for no sugar, high fiber, complex carbs – whole grains, and real fruit. Here are a few that meet those requirements and taste good too:

Larabar good and gluten free!
thinkThin Products nothing but good and healthy!
Raw Revolution products raw food that’s good for your brain

Alternatives to Chips

Marys Gone Crackers organic, gluten free, vegan, and just plain good
Doctor Kracker products that have whole grains, Omega 3’s and fiber
Newmans Own Pretzels organic, high fiber, and a good source of protein

Drinks

Odwalla Soy Smart are high in protein and Omega 3
Naked Juice is high in antioxidants and vitamins

Don’t you feel healthier just reading that?

Be sure to stock up on some of these snacks the next time you’re at the store. Then when you have a snack attack you can do something good for you and your brain. 🙂
