Are You THAT Woman?

Jump to:

I don’t know what made me think of it, but last night I was wondering if women with ADHD look different than woman who don’t have ADHD.

I don’t mean in terms of beauty – it’s more like the way they put themselves together.

Now I take a shower every day and do my hair and most days I wear some make-up, but I still don’t manage to look as polished and pulled together as some other women.

Do you know what I mean?

I can spend hours getting ready for a special event and then run into a friend of mine walking her dog and still feel frumpy. Is that just me, or do you feel that way too?

I think my ADHD makes me feel overwhelmed by even things like beauty routines. It just seems like there’s so much to do – shaving and moisturizing and plucking and styling and accessorizing. How do women do it all and still have time for a life?

Are you that woman? Are you the polished one that makes your friends feel not so polished? If you are, how do you do it?

What do you think? Do women with ADHD look different, or do we just feel that way? Or is it just me?

  1. Like anything else we do, it’s all in the routine. If you are used to putting yourself together everyday, it will be a snap when you really need to. On the other hand, if you’re not used to this routine, it seems daunting and the finished product in your eyes, is not polished and it took far too much time.
I believe it’s all in your head, no pun intended. And believe it or not, your own simple routine may make you look more polished to someone else…and on and on.

  2. I feel this way all the time! Despite the fact that I love beauty and fashion, I tend to feel like I’m missing something when I finish my routine. You hit the nail on the head. I think others with ADD may have similar experiences.
