Why Your Brain is Like a Microwave

We recently got a new microwave at our house as part of the “all of our appliances died at once” jubilee.

My new microwave can figure out how long to cook something if you tell it what you’re cooking. It pops popcorn based on the size of bag you have. It can even teach you how to use it by giving you a hands on demo.

Know what we use it for?

Reheating a cup of tea and warming the occasional burrito or Hot Pocket.

We clearly are not using our microwave to it’s full capacity.

It’s the same thing with your brain.

We are intelligent and creative thinkers. Our minds can make connections that others will never see. We can come up with crazy ideas that just might work, given the chance.

Is that what you’re using your brain for?

Or are you reheating cups of tea and burritos?

I know. You’re too busy trying to remember what you’ve got to do and where you have to go and when.

You have a to do list a mile long and everyone depends on you.

You don’t have a spare minute to think, let alone come up with a few brilliant ideas.

But you could.

And that’s where I’m leaving you for today. Stay tuned.
