You Are the Fire

The other day I found a quote on Pinterest that spoke to me so deeply I had to save it.

The quote was used to advertise an ebook called “The Indigo Child Survival Guide”, a book written by Baker Jacinto with Mama Indigo and Sim1 Indigo.

You may not ever have heard of an Indigo child, but once you read the description, I bet it will hit home. Here’s what it says on the book’s website:

…it is a person with a warrior spirit, always questioning and challenging the ways of the world and has a strong sense of a higher purpose.

And here is the quote:

Master the Chaos

Do you ever feel as though your life is complete and utter chaos? I know I do. It seems as though it is just life as usual, especially when you have ADHD.

So what does it mean – that we are not thrown into the fire, but are the fire?

I haven’t read the book, but here’s what it means to me: we often look outside ourselves, blaming circumstances and even others for our crazy lives. I know I’m guilty of that.

But the truth is that we create our own world; it comes from inside us.

I recently started reading a book by the late Dr. Wayne Dyer called “The Power of Intention: Learning to Co-Create Your World Your Way”.

At the very beginning of the book, he talks about bringing things into the world through your thoughts and intentions.

Now before you check out thinking I’ve gone off the deep end, think about it.

Dr. Dyer had a thought, an idea about a new book. He thought about it, intended to write it, and did. What started as a thought in his head became the book in my hands.

Look around you. You have created much that is in your life. You have chosen, one way or another, to live as you do.

Now I’m not saying it’s all your doing; there are things that are beyond our control.

For instance, I did not chose for my dad to get sick, but I did chose to let him live with us and to care for him. I chose the attitude I greeted each day with, whether it was good or bad.

So you are not thrown into the fire by some unseen force; you are the fire, the energy, the force.
