Garbage and ADD

Jump to:

I hate digging through the garbage, don’t you? It’s so dirty and disgusting.

I bring this up because today I had to dig through two bags of garbage. It wasn’t the first time, and it probably won’t be the last.

Yesterday my son went to the drugstore and got some over the counter allergy medication. This time of year is especially bad for my family’s allergies.

He took a pill, and I took one, and we don’t know what happened after that. All we know is that today we can’t find the bottle.

We’ve searched the house (including the refrigerator) and we can’t find the pills. Thus, digging through two bags of garbage.

Over the years, I can’t tell you how many things I’ve thrown away that I shouldn’t have, all because I wasn’t paying attention. That’s a common ADD thing, you know. Not paying attention I mean.

It’s a lesson I have yet to learn, although I hope you can learn it from me. I’m always telling you to be present in the moment, to stop living life in the future or just in your head.

There is possibly no more important time to be present and aware than when you’re throwing out the trash.
