Do This Now

Jump to:

Yesterday those of us in the US celebrated Thanksgiving. That means that today is Black Friday when there is all sorts of chaos and mayhem going on in the name of holiday shopping.

For most of us, the next 6 weeks or so mean celebrating the holidays in one form or another. There will be get togethers with family and friends, lots of shopping and cooking and eating and drinking going on, and extra helpings of stress.

These things are not good for your ADHD. They make your symptoms worse and can cause extra trouble in your life which only leads to more stress. Sort of a catch 22.

Here’s one simple thing that you can do right now to help keep your stress level more or less under control: schedule at least one day each week from now until the end of the year for yourself. And by that I mean consider spending the day in your pi’s, or having a massage or just lying in bed.

This is not selfish or indulgent. This is self care at it’s finest. This is the key to less stress and more sanity in the coming weeks.

This is mandatory.

So go do it. Now.

And then guard it with your very life. Do not under any circumstances change that appointment you have with yourself. No matter what. Period.

Do it. Now.
