Planning Ahead

Jump to:

With 2010 quickly coming to an end, and 2011 approaching, now is the time to plan ahead for next year.

For instance, when I was cleaning up my gift wrapping supplies for Christmas, I noticed that we are out of almost everything. All Christmas related items are on clearance right now, so stocking up now makes good financial sense, plus I’ll be ready for the next Holiday season.

This year I found myself scrambling to figure out what to make for holiday meals and what pans and serving dishes to use. Well, it should be pretty much the same each year, right? No sense re-inventing the wheel.

So I am putting together a holiday binder that I will use from October through January from now on. Each holiday has it’s own tab, along with any information I need to know for that holiday.

This Halloween several neighbors got together and went all out decorating and making trick or treating an event. We got dressed up and everything. My Halloween section will remind me of what I did and what I need. Same for the rest of the holidays.

Now is also a good time to take a look back at 2010 and see how you did. What worked for you and what didn’t? Are there changes you can make for next year?

I noticed that for me, events that take place every year put a lot of stress on me. If I know in advance that they are coming, it shouldn’t be such a struggle, so this coming year, I am going to work on being prepared in advance.

This is also a great time to go through your house collecting things you no longer need or use and then donating them to charity. Many charities will come to your house to collect your donations, so be sure to call them as soon as you get them ready.

If you really want to make the coming year better for you and your loved ones, you might consider ADD Coaching. If you sign up before the end of the year, you can get special pricing – $47 per month for 3 months, or $137 in full.
