For the past week, I have been testing an herbal product for ADHD called NuroFocus. Disclaimer: I was given a 30 day supply for free to evaluate, but the opinions expressed here are mine.NuroFocus is produced here in the US by a company called NuAxon in affiliation with a company in India.
Dr. A. Shrikrishna Phadke, a formulator, doctor, and Ayurveda instructor, is the man behind NuroFocus. Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old system of natural healing with roots in India.
I investigated the product thoroughly before I tried it. After all, I’m not going to just put anything into my mouth or body.
I was very pleased to see that other than a vegetable based gelatin capsule and water, all of the other ingredients are plants. In addition, they are organically grown either in NuAxon’s farms or in a local farmer cooperative.
The ingredients in NuroFocus are flax seed, celastrus (pictured above), bacopa, rosemary, ginger, carob, haritaki, myrobalan, and turmeric.
The combination is designed to improve focus and concentration, aid memory, and promote calm.
One of the first things that I noticed about taking NuroFocus was that calming effect.
Of course, helping you to stay calm and relaxed is very valuable when it comes to concentration and focus. I noticed that I was more able to stay on task and just think clearly when I took NuroFocus.
I also noted that, like most natural solutions, it was a very gentle and subtle change.
To fully appreciate the fact that I felt calmer and was more able to focus you need to understand my life at present.
Imagine that you ran away to join the circus.
No wait. Imagine that the circus moved in with you. Into your house. And lived there.
And imagine that you were expected to do actual work and concentrate and be productive while the circus is there.
NuroFocus has helped me do that. Not perfectly and not always but enough.
I am very impressed overall with this product, especially with the company’s philosophy and practices and for their selection of ingredients.
Most herbal products for ADHD really just deal with hyperactivity or calming; focus and concentration are rarely addressed. I think that NuroFocus does a good job of addressing the complexity of ADHD and the needs of people who have it.

For much of the time that I was evaluating NuroFocus I was taking half the recommended dose. Not by choice, but because I have ADHD. 🙂
As far as I can tell, there is no indication of how long NuroFocus lasts. Because it is a natural substance, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when it stops working. I noted about 4 hours of effectiveness, but again, I was taking half the dose.

The company just contacted me asking to promote this product. Do you know if the company has published research in a peer reviewed journal that has been replicated that proves the efficacy/safety of their products?
Honestly I don’t know. That’s a great question and one I should have explored. I did find this (on their site) http://www.nuaxon.com/double-blind-placebo-controlled-studies-the-gold-standard-in-research. Since it is an herbal product, I really wouldn’t expect to see these types of studies.
I am somewhat knowledgable about herbs and did research what they use. It’s not the usual things you find in herbal remedies and I was impressed with the ingredients.

They do have a peer reviewed study in the process of being published. I can email it to you if you like. There is also a letter from a Dr. Rhyner in Switzerland who has been using the product for years.
