If It’s Tuesday, It Must Be…

Jump to:

One way to get your life in order and get things done is to assign different tasks to different days.

For instance, Monday might be laundry day when you do 3 or more loads of laundry.

Or Tuesdays might be your personal days when you do things like get your hair done or get a massage.

Maybe Sundays are for planning and paying bills.

Get the idea?

You can take this idea and use it in all sorts of ways.

As women, we have an awful lot to do and remember.

And as ADD women, remembering to get things done in a timely manner and stay on top of things can be extra tough because of our ADHD. Prioritizing and organizing don’t come easily to us.

The beauty of assigning certain things to certain days is that:

You only have to plan and prioritize once.

You have a good idea of what’s happening on any given day.

It makes it easier to schedule appointments or other commitments because you already know what each day is like.

And finally, it makes it easier for us to develop good habits around these things so that eventually that part of your life will be on autopilot. You will get things done without even thinking about them! Imagine that!

So in addition to cleaning tasks, here are some other ways that you can use this idea of assigning certain things to certain days:

Meal planning. Fridays, for instance, might be no cooking nights. So instead you might do take out or have leftovers.

Saturdays might mean a night out.

Sundays could be roast chicken night with the leftover chicken going into a simple meal on Tuesday.

Your wardrobe Maybe your work has a casual Friday day or maybe you have a sort of uniform that you wear on weekends – yoga pants and tees, anyone?

You could structure the rest of your week the same way. Mondays you might want something comfortable yet still appropriate for work. Find some outfits that fit the bill and designate them as Monday outfits.

Days when you have an important meeting or event might require something a little more polished. Identify those outfits too.

You can even take this a step further and decide on makeup and hairstyles for each day. Maybe a low ponytail on causal Fridays but something more professional on meeting days.

Appointments and social events.
I know that Mondays for me are the most likely least scheduled day of the week. So if I need to make a dentist appointment or want to get together with a friend, Mondays are when I try to do that.

Maybe you don’t have the luxury of an entire day. That’s OK. Take a look at your current schedule and see if you can find a time that seems to be less busy in general. Social events for you might be on the weekends.

The point is to try and designate one day as one that you can most rely on for when you need to schedule an appointment.

This idea of assigning different days to different tasks and events can make a huge difference in your life. It can help you be more organized and productive and more in control.

Just remember not to take on too much at once. Start with the one area that would have the most positive impact on your life and work on that. And remember that this is not written in stone. Things change and your plan might need to change as well. That’s OK.

What are you going to start with?
