If you have read my blog for any time at all or if you follow me on Pinterest, you know that I am a huge fan of planners. One might even say obsessed or addicted.

I’m always looking for a better way to use my planner or a cool new system of planning. There’s always room for improvement, right? Plus I like to be on top of things that work so that I can share them with you.

And you know, as ADD women, we need all the help we can get when it comes to keeping our lives in order.

Meet DIYfish and her Life Mapping System.

I am very intrigued.

According to fish,

Life Mapping is a kind of color coding,  time-managing,  journal writing method that can help you record and organize your life without hustle.

The Life Mapping System is a digital download that you either print yourself or take to an office supply store for printing. You also need a binder – I believe that the size she offers is about 5 x 8 – the size of most planners.

One of the cool things about this system is that it is designed to allow you to see month, week,  and day views all at once. Much better than flipping back and forth!

My planner – shown above – has month and week pages. That big green paper clip is used to allow me to flip between month and weekly views. The Life Mapping System eliminates that problem. Here’s a picture of how it works:

Another very cool feature about this planning system is the ability to color code and then easily find anything important that you are looking for.

You make a sort of bookmark with your list of color coded categories. For me, these include personal, family, my dad, my business, and coaching. Each has a set color.

In fish’s system, you assign a color to each category and list it on what she calls an Index Page Marker. Each category is spaced out so that there is room between each. This is part of the genius of how the indexing feature works.

When you write a to do or important note on your page, you mark the task with the proper color and then also put that color – corresponding to the placement on your index page marker on the side of the page.

This gives you an instant idea of what kinds of things you are doing on any given day. And if you bend the pages slightly in order to see the side of the page, you can easily see all of the days that you had something personal going on, for instance.

You can learn more about The Life Mapping System here and here.

This is something that I am seriously considering. If I do, I will let you know how I like it.

P.S. – I just found out that there are earlier editions of her system that are free! And they are cute! Check it out here.
