Hello and welcome to An ADD Woman!
My name is Brenda Nicholson, and as you might guess, I have ADD, or ADHD as it is sometimes called. I was diagnosed at age 42, after I discovered that both my son and daughter had ADHD.
Finding resources for all of us, trying to make sense of things, and just living life without constant chaos was a struggle, to say the least.
That’s one of the reasons that I started this blog (which has been around since 2007).
I knew that there were other women out there like me, trying to raise a family, hold down a job, keep the house clean and food on the table, and all the other million things that women do, and do it all with ADHD.
That’s like that old joke about Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. (I’m showing my age here.) Fred Astaire got all the credit for being such a great dancer, until someone pointed out that Ginger Rogers was doing everything he was doing, except backwards and in heels.
Yes, we do everything other women do, except we’re doing it with ADHD. Our version of backwards and in heels.
This blog is meant to help you figure things out, without the steep learning curve that I had.
An ADD Woman covers a lot of topics. You can see the most popular ones, below.
