Using Every Minute

Jump to:

Today I have a lot to do outside my home. It’s one of those days when I’ll be running errands all day and doing lots of waiting in between.

I went back to college to finish my degree five months after my first child was born and I had my son just a few weeks after finishing up a summer session.

With two little ones around and lots of homework to do, I learned to use every minute. That, plus learning how to park anywhere were two of the most valuable things I learned in college. 🙂

So today, just as I did all those years ago, I will pack my car and my bag with things that will help me get the most out of every minute today.

I have a list of phone calls to make, some reading material I’ve been wanting to get to, some forms that I can fill out and mail, and always – paper and pen for notes.

As I said, there is a lot of waiting time built into today – doctor’s appointments, etc. If it were just simple errands like shopping, I wouldn’t do this. But today, I know that there will be times when I will just be sitting and waiting for someone else. I can put that time to better use than reading an old magazine in the doctors office.

Keep this idea in mind the next time you have a day full of waiting.

PS – I always keep a book or something in the car or in my bag just in case. That way, even a long line in the drive through at the bank can be productive.
