An Organized Home

Jump to:

Did you ever wish for a well organized home?

What am I asking????

We all have, haven’t we?

A nice neat and tidy space where everything is in it’s place. My mother-in-law used to wish for a stainless steel house with drains in every room. And no flat surfaces. Everything slanted down. That way, no one could pile stuff on any surface and she could hose it down when it needed it. 🙂

OK so it would be a clean house, but not a very comfortable one.

It is possible to get your home more organized and orderly – to actually run more smoothly. There are all kinds of websites and blogs to teach you and countless numbers of books. (Did you ever think that if you read just the right book the problem would be solved?)

One site I have been counting on forever – literally – is Organized Home.

This site covers everything – from cleaning and organizing the home to menu planning. And the amount of information available is astounding.

There are checklists available to help you get ready for anything from travel to back to school to the holidays. There is even a section for making your own household cleaners. I’ve used some of them in the past and they are great. (I would caution against using them with high efficiency appliances unless it is noted that it’s OK).

One of the especially good ideas available on Organized Home is the Household Notebook. Think of it as a sort of day planner for your home.

It lists things like important phone numbers and addresses, information about appliances, warranties, etc, your household cleaning routine, your budget and bank accounts, and much, much more.

One of the nice things about it is that anyone can use it. For instance, if you were sick and unable to take care of the house, someone could reference your Household Notebook and see what needed to be done that day. It’s also handy to have all of your information in one easy to find place.

If you decide to make your own, Organized Home has a whole series of posts telling you how to do it.

Be sure to pop over and take a look at the site as a whole. Warning: there’s a lot there!
