How Many Calendars Do You Keep?

Jump to:

If you consult someone like a personal organizer, an ADD Coach, or a time management expert, they will tell you that you should only keep one calendar. Using more than one opens up the possibility of double booking a day or forgetting something because you looked at the wrong calendar.

Just a few weeks ago, I purchased an Erin Condren planner At the time, I wasn’t sure if I would use it instead of my iCalendar on my phone and online, or in addition to it.

A few days after I started using it, I took a look to see what time I had to be at work the next day. Well, my planner said one time and my iCalendar said another. Which was right? I had to text my co-worker to find out.

I guess that sort of proves the theory about more than one calendar, but it hasn’t stopped me.

I like writing things down on paper and I love using different colors of ink and different kinds of pens. You can’t get that on a smart phone.

On the other hand, my phone is small and portable and it has alarms to let me know about things in advance.

If you work, you have a work calendar. And if your kids are active in various things, you’ve got a family calendar too.

One really great solution to this mess is Cozi Cozi is an online family calendar that you can all use to keep track of everything. Because it’s online and has phone apps, all of your family members can log in and add an appointment or look to see what’s going on.

I used Cozi for quite a while, not because my family used it (they didn’t) but because I liked the features. I suspect the reason I stopped had more to do with boredom than how well Cozi worked for me.

If you have ADHD, you know how easily we get bored. And how easily we are attracted to something new and shiny. Maybe that’s why I have both a paper and electronic planner.

And maybe it’s just because well, the more planners and calendars you have, the more likely you’ll be organized. 🙂 Right????

How many calendars are you juggling right now?
