Why didn’t anyone tell me that Thanksgiving is next week????
I just found out today. I thought I had 2 more weeks to get ready!
Now maybe you’re lucky and don’t have to cook on that day, or you only have to bring one dish.
But at my house, I cook everything. And I do it gluten free.
Now I admit: I love to cook. If you follow me on Instagram, about the only things you will see are pics of the wreaths I make and the food I cook. I find it really hard to come up with pictures that depict ADHD, even for An ADD Woman.
Anyway, here’s the thing: the holidays – all of them – come around the same time each year.
Why do we find ourselves (over and over) being unprepared?
Yeah, I know.
It’s that ADHD procrastination thing.
But you know what?
We really don’t have a lot of room on that.
Let me guess: on Thanksgiving you have turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, some vegetable sides, maybe some bread of some sort, and pie for dessert.
And on the 4th of July, you have a cookout and watch fireworks.
Most of us celebrate our holidays in a traditional manner. Most of us wouldn’t change it for anything.
So here’s my idea: why not write down what needs to be done and when and then save it for use every year? You could even add notes as you go to make things easier.
If you have An ADD Woman Takes Charge binder, you’ve got the perfect place for it. Add a divider called Holidays and you’re set. (Note: I don’t sell the binder and pre-printed forms anymore; it became too costly for me. But you can find An ADD Woman Cleans at that link with more to come.)
And if you didn’t purchase the binder when it was available, go to the dollar store and get a binder (I like the 1 inch size) and some dividers cause you’re going to want to do this.
OK, so let’s say the idea of writing everything down and figuring out when you need to do it is just too much. You know yourself; you’ll never get around to it or finish it.
No worries. I’ve got you covered.
I created the checklist myself based on how I do things on Thanksgiving.
For instance, I didn’t add a part about setting the table the night before because I don’t have a dining room or big table, so we serve ourselves in the kitchen and then find a spot to sit.

Add it to your binder and you’ll have a guideline for years to come!
