Appointments and ADHD

I got my hair cut yesterday. Big deal, right? Actually, it was a big deal, because the last time I was in a salon was August. Since my hair is on the short side and grows quickly, 3 months was way too long to wait.

The final straw came the other day when I got done blow drying my hair. Have you ever seen that picture of Albert Einstein, with the wild gray hair? He was in my bathroom mirror. Time for a cut and color!

The reason I mention this is that we ADD people aren’t so good about following through – doing things in a timely manner when they should be done.

Last August, when I was at the salon, I broke one of my cardinal rules. I failed to make a follow up appointment before I left the salon.

There are certain things that are best done in a timely fashion: get your hair cut every 4-6 weeks, see your dentist twice a year, get certain medical exams on a yearly basis.

The easiest and best way to make sure you actually do those things when you are supposed to is to make the next appointment before you leave.

If you don’t, bad things might happen. Albert might show up in your bathroom, too.
