Cozi Family Calendar

Jump to:

Lately too much stuff has fallen through the cracks and I have once again gone in search of the perfect calendar/system.

I had tried Cozi before but didn’t stick with it for some reason. I think the fact that it is marketed as a family calendar system made me think that it wouldn’t work for me.

Apparently the people at Cozi have a different kind of family than I do. In their family, there is a family calendar where everyone can put their schedules in and basically see what the family is doing.

It’s sort of like the big calendar on the wall at home except that this is online and thus available anywhere.

When our children were younger and we needed such a calendar, I was the only one who put anything on it. It would be amazing if I had a whole group of people – like my family – who checked in like that, but that’s just not going to happen.

Anyway, I decided to give Cozi another try last week and I have to say that I am very glad I did.

In addition to the calendar, Cozi also provides a to do list, a shopping list and a cool thing called a journal. The journal lets you record those little everyday moments that you want to remember, like something one of your kids said or did or what you did that day.

When you first set Cozi up, you put in the family members (you could also use this for a group that you belong to) that you interact with often. Then when you enter an event on the calendar or a to do on the to do list, you can flag the members that are involved.

You can also add phone numbers or email addresses so that a reminder can be sent to whoever needs one.

Even though my family doesn’t put things on this calendar, I could add a to do and a reminder for my husband for something that I need him to do.

I also like the fact that Cozi is available on my laptop, my iPod Touch, and my Android phone. They sync automatically each time I add or change an entry.

I think that Cozi might just be the system that I will continue to use.
