Everyone knows that those of us with ADHD sometimes have problems with the way our brain works. The good news is that there are ways to remove your brain.
That is, to remove your brain from the equation. 😉
For instance, if paying bills on time is a problem, you can sign up for autopay. Most employers will also allow you to have your paycheck directly deposited into your account.
Here are 4 more ways to remove your brain:
1. Make standing appointments for things like the hair salon. And always make your next appointment before you leave. For instance, yesterday I got my teeth cleaned. Before I left the dentist’s office, I made appointments for my next cleaning in 6 months and one to replace some fillings.
2. Build good habits. When things like emptying the dishwasher and cleaning the bathroom become habits, you no longer have to think about them or remember to do them. It’s automatic.
3. Put someone else in charge. When my kids were in their teens, I worked outside the home. Since laundry was a never ending process, I put each child in charge of doing a load of towels one day a week. One less thing I had to worry about.
4. Get meal planning over with once and for all. Start a list of meals that your family likes and continue to work on it until you have at least 28 (4 weeks worth). It may take a few days to complete. Be sure to encourage the whole family to add to it. Once the list is complete, arrange the meals so that they are balanced each week – you don’t want to eat chicken for the entire week. Meal planning done! When the month is over, just start again with week 1.
