This time of year is perfect for depression, especially for those of us in the Northern hemisphere. And the farther north you get, the worse it is.
A lot of it has to do with the weather. Cold and gray.
We tend to stay indoors more and there isn’t enough sunshine to help brighten our mood.
Its called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and it’s real.
For those of us with Attention Deficit Disorder who might have a little depression on the side, this time of year can be really bad, even if you’re taking medication for your depression.
I’m fighting it myself right now, so I’m going to give you the same advice I’m giving myself:
Take some Vitamin D
Exercise
Get outside as much as you can
I know you don’t want to do any of them. Well except maybe take the Vitamin D, but that would mean a trip to the store…
That is how depression works!
Have someone go to the store for you if you must.
Find someone who loves you to go outside and take a walk.
Park a little farther away from the door at the mall.
Just do it.
You’ll be glad you did.

FYI – Someone said that taking Vitamin D with calcium makes it more effective. Makes sense, since our milk is often fortified with Vitamin D. Thanks Gayle!
